ARECMore information coming soon! Four members departed Invercargill in the AREC Vehicle to meet with SAR personal at the Otautau Police Station by 0830 hrs, after a short briefing they travelled into the Longwood Forest area via Jubilee Hill road to the Pourakino Picnic reserve North West of Invercargill where Search Base was established and teams deployed into the field after a briefing. The LandSAR repeater was initially set up at Search Base but conditions were not ideal so it was relocated to the head of the valley to obtain a better coverage. Neville ZK4EC arrived around lunch time to observe operations Comms were difficult with 1 team and were established via cell phone provided by SAR; this team was tucked into the side of a hill where the repeater was shaded from the field party. The exercise provided excellent training for all personal involved and concluded around 1500 hrs with the missing parties being found. A debrief followed by the Search controller and AREC departed for town arriving back around 1800 hrs
